Recertification with Continuing Education Credits

The Continuing Education program offers Cisco certification holders flexible, alternative options to recertify while pursuing new learning opportunities and expanding their skill set.

Candidates can recertify active Cisco certifications within three years of passing a qualifying exam, earning Continuing Education credits through qualifying item categories, or through a combination of both (qualifying exams + CE credits) before their certification expires.

1. Enrol in the Program

To recertify with Continuing Education credits, candidates will need to enrol in the program through the Continuing Education Program portal and will be required to accept the Continuing Education Terms and Conditions.

2. Earn CE Credits

Continuing Education credits can be earned through the following qualifying item categories:

  • Completing eligible Instructor-Led Training courses

  • Attending Cisco Live technical sessions

  • Participating in exam item writing

Please note: Credit value for completed items will vary. With the Continuing Education program, you get the opportunity renew your active Cisco Certification while continuing to pursue your life-long learning and professional development goals. You are already a highly skilled network engineer, and now it's critical that you keep your skills up to date and well rounded. The Continuing Education program encourages all certification holders to continue to expand their knowledge and skill sets in order to remain competitive in the industry. As a best practice, it is recommended to take part in the program to explore other technology paths in the world of Cisco certifications (e.g., DevNet and/or CyberOps) for even further skill and professional advancement.

  • Keep track of your certification status and expiration date through your Certification Tracking System profile.

  • Familiarise yourself with the Cisco Exam Retake Policy. There is a wait time to retake a failed exam.

  • Certification expiration date extensions are not provided, so candidates are highly encouraged to give themselves enough time in advance to complete the recertification requirements.
